Welcome to Hands-On Contracting
This site is intended to help match what is important to you in hiring a contractor, with what my company has to offer- including its principles, skills and history of integrity. In addition to kitchen and bathroom remodeling, home improvement, and repair, I focus on the human elements of working with people... the creative aspects such as usable and aesthetic design. And of course the technical aspects of right construction, e.g. green, sustainable, healthy, efficient.
Like in my business, I am continually making changes to this site to help improve it to deepen your understanding of my standard and often superior practices, processes and accomplishments. This is another way of answering your question, does Hands-On Contracting have value to me? This First Edition Web Site is now getting polished and becoming more complete.
My experience informs me in Renovating, Repairing, Remodeling Kitchens, Baths, Additions or any project, the most important consideration is that Customer and Contractor are a good match. It is from here we intentionally start building the foundation of a mutually beneficial project, and perhaps a long term relationship. A solid foundation doesn't happen by accident.
If you don't read much to start and want to just look at before and after pictures, that's just fine! But, please come back later to read more. You will find my communications are transparant-- nothing hidden from view. And you should easily be able to check this out if you're screening for contractors.
Incidently, with the growth of Social Media, it is becoming easier to truely 'see' someone or a business as they really are. Tools like Inside919.com, LinkedIn.com, Twitter.com, Facebook.com (Facebook business 'Pages'), and along with these, Blogs and Comments text is often pulled up by searching the web on a person's name. So, it is becoming difficult for the less sincere, less competent, less honorable, and sharks to hide.

Tips
Vent Intelligence Crawl space ventilation is a complex problem in this area of NC. Significant periods outside air is more humid than crawlspace air. However, low dew points in the crawlspace can cause significant condensation water whether vents are open or closed. And this can produce mold, rot, and termites. If you think you have moisture problems in the crawlspace I suggest you understand the facts before making any investment. This is especially true when replacing your HVAC system or ducting. I plan to write an article on this topic in the near future or you can call me. |
